How Accurate Are AI Baby Generators? What They Can’t Know

AI baby generators are not accurate, and they cannot be. No app can predict what your baby will look like from two photos. What they make is an invented baby face that borrows a little from each picture, and the same two photos give a different baby every time.

That does not make AI baby generators pointless: they are a game for couples, and a nice one. Below is why prediction is impossible, how the generators work, and what Hotel Lobby Video’s Future Baby effect makes.

Why no app can predict your baby’s face

A face is shaped by many genes with small effects. Studies of facial shape have found over 300 of them, and in a survey of 4,680 people the known genetic variants explained only about 14 percent of the differences between faces (Knowable Magazine, 2023). Age, sex and body weight explained more, and almost half was unexplained.

A photo carries none of that genetic information anyway. It shows a face in one light, at one angle, with makeup or a beard. Each child also gets a different mix of the parents’ genes, which is why siblings look different.

For fun, not a prediction

What an AI baby generator actually does

  1. It reads the two photos: skin tone, hair, eye shape, the overall look.
  2. An image or video model draws a new baby face that borrows some of those features.
  3. Randomness picks the rest, so each try gives a different baby.

The photos matter more than the genes: light, angle, filters and how sharp each face is all change the result.

What our Future Baby video looks like

Our Future Baby effect makes a 5-second 9:16 video, not a still: the two of you on a sofa in a sunny nursery, holding one newborn the model is asked to give some of both your features. It is 4 credits at 720p. This test was made with two AI-made people; the parents kept their faces and clothes and there is one baby. Whether the baby “looks like” both of them is for you to judge.

How to get a nicer result from AI baby generators

  • Use two sharp, front-facing photos with similar light.
  • Skip heavy filters, sunglasses and hats.
  • One photo of both of you works if both faces are clear and side by side.
  • Only use a partner’s photo if they agreed to it.

FAQ

Are AI baby generators accurate?

No. Faces depend on many genes, and photos contain no genetic information. The result is an invented baby for fun, different every time.

Can AI predict what my baby will look like?

No app can. Known genetic variants explain only about 14 percent of how faces differ, and the generator never sees your genes.

Why do I get a different baby each time?

The model fills in what the photos cannot tell it with randomness, so each run draws a new baby.

Is there a free AI baby generator?

Some apps give free tries. Here Future Baby is 4 credits for a 5-second video at 720p. There is no free preview.

Can I choose a boy or a girl?

Not in our effect: the baby is a newborn in a blanket and the model decides the rest.
