How it works

What an AI hug video shows

Two people stand side by side in soft daylight, look at each other and smile, then turn and hold each other in a long hug, one head resting on the other’s shoulder. The model is told to keep each face, hairstyle and outfit from its photo.

The two photos do not need to be taken together, or even in the same decade. A 5 second hug on Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p costs 4 credits, with ambient sound and no music.

Who to hug

  • Long distance: a college roommate who moved abroad, a brother on the other coast.
  • You and your younger self: your third-grade school photo next to one from this year.
  • Family: a grandparent or a cousin, from a family photo you have the right to use. Ask first when you can.

Tips for a natural hug

  • Crop the two photos the same way. Two chest-up shots blend better than a close-up next to a full-length picture.
  • Faces forward, eyes visible, even light. Sunglasses and hats make faces harder to keep.

Use it with respect

Only use photos you have the right to use, of people who would be glad to see the result. No strangers, celebrities or other public figures. Every render also passes the video provider’s NSFW checker.

A hug video with a relative who has passed away can comfort one person and hurt another. Think about who will see it before you post.

Questions

Hug questions

Still stuck? Contact us or see pricing.

How does the hug effect work?

You add a photo of each person, or one photo of both. A Seedance model renders the two of them turning to each other and hugging, ready as an MP4.

Do the two photos need to be taken together?

No. Each person can come from a different photo, city or year.

Can I make an AI hug video from one photo?

Yes, if that photo shows both people. A solo photo on its own is not enough.

Is the hug effect free to try?

No. A 5 second hug at 720p costs 4 credits. Credits are paid when you create; the smallest pack is 10 credits for $9.99, and a failed render is refunded automatically.

Can I use a photo of someone else?

Only with their permission, or a family photo you have the right to use.
